Whats a good hair remover, and will it damage my hair? If so, how much? And what do I need to do so it wont get damaged??? I want to strip the red out of it. My hair is naturally dark brown. But I dyed it a soft red tint in Feb. Now I want red out, and even tho i keep going darker, you can still see the red, out in the sun. the last time I dyed it, it was Dark Ash Brown soo..i dont really kno anymore...

Ewwww....you don't even want to mess with that. It is too complicated. First, you must consider what color your hair is now and what it was. Did it turn black? I am a hair stylist and have had to remove black from someones hair. It is NOT easy! I used this professional product. I had to scrub it on 3 times and sit under the dryer each time. Then it lifts the color out, but hair is ORANGE, then you have to put color back in....like brown or whatever. It is complicated and you need to go to a professional hair stylist to remove color.

How does hair colour remover work ?
Does it wreck your hair.. the hair dresser put blonde in my hair.. and then i went and dyed it purple..so now where the blonde was, i have whiteish brown hair..so does the colour remover work, does it damage your hair even more.. *(my hair is really dead where the blonde was)

Depends Upon The Type Of 'Remover' You're Talking About. Is It Permanent Color? If Not, You Can Use A Product Like CLAIROL METALEX Which Is A Conditioner That Will Remove Artificial Color. Or CLAIROL UNCOLOR Liquid, Which Is For Removing Temporary And Semi-Permanent Color. (Both Are Found In Beauty Supplies) These Will NOT Damage Your Hair Any Farther. However, You Will Need To Get Some SERIOUS Reconditioning For The 'DEAD' Hair. If Its PERMANENT Color. - SEE A PROFESSIONAL. (Or You May End Up 'Dissolving' Your Hair) P.S. YES - Haircolor Remover(s) Work, And Usually Doesn't Damage The Hair. There Are Different Types And You Shouldn't Use Them On Hair That's ALREADY DAMAGED.

are hair colour removers damaging to hair?
i'm looking in particular at 'colour b4' compared to dying or bleaching hair, how bad is it? if it does any damage at all?
Administrador answers
ColourB4 didn't damage my hair at all, because it didn't contain bleach or ammonia.
However, colour strippers in general contain bleach which dries out the hair, giving it a frazzled look. I'd say bleaching is worse than dying, but multiple applications of dye isn't so good either.

Very easily actually, don't listen to these other people, they are confused that you are talking about direct-deposit dye. Hair color remover is a nice word for bleach, since people tend to be afraid of the word, and for good reason. The only way to get that stain off of your hair is to bleach it off. But direct-deposit dye is not like permanent, or even normal semi-permanent dye. This dye is not inside of the hair shaft like all other dyes, it has just stained the outside. I had dyed my hair with this dye many times over a few years.
To remove it you will use bleach. BUT, you will use it with a low volume developer, not 40 like people tend to like to do. Since it is faded you can use 20 volume, this is far less damaging. It will need to process for about four or five minutes, 8 at the absolute max. Wash this out really well with lukewarm water. Then you will tone with the dye that you want and the appropriate developer, the dye must be an ash.
Again, since this is removal of a direct deposit dye the bleach is not going into the hair shaft and dispersing molecules (and therefor the strength of the hair shaft) you are not going to have much if any damage. But you have to apply it fast and get it out fast, you might want to do this is sections so that it does not go too long and cause damage. So you can do it yourself, but you have to realize that people have a lot more damage to their hair than they know for whatever reason. I have had people tell me over the phone that their hair is in good shape and they show up with hair that is trashed and on the brink of breakage.
If you only use the bleach exactly as I have specified, then you tone it with a dye, and condition with a salon brand conditioner you have nothing to worry about. Drugstore conditioner will not help you, so don't think that you can cut corners and get away with it. When you shampoo rinse it out in hot water and apply the conditioner. Blow dry on high heat for 10-15 minutes, and wash that out in cold water. This will put your hair is great shape and you will not have to worry about breakage. This is the deep conditioning treatment that we do in salons, it is nothing special, just salon quality conditioner or reconstructor, heat to help it penetrate into the hair shaft, and cold rise to lock the cuticle down and keep the good minerals and oils inside the hair shaft.

Bleach is really the only thing that will get your hair blonde. Make sure that you use a toner after you bleach it because when it is first bleached it will be bright orange. Someone at a beauty supply store should be able to help you with that. Conditioning a lot helps, just make sure that you only use a conditioner with protein once a week or else it will make your hair break off (from too much protein). It damages your hair, but I bleach my dark brown hair platinum blonde and it isn't bad I get complimented on it all of the time. Just make sure you consistently do a check of elasticity by tugging on a little piece of hair, if the hair breaks at all rinse the bleach out IMMEDIATELY and bleach it again after you condition it for a couple hours. Good luck! Don't worry too much about it ;) and don't listen to people who say don't do it at home because you can do it just as good on your own! And for way cheaper.

I've found the best way to treat damaged hair is with all natural hair products. I love Renpure! It's is sold nationally but it's made only 30 minutes from my house (pointless fact). It smells amazing and it is very gentle. To help repair, I would use V05 hot oil treatment or Hask Placenta treatment (sounds weird but I love it!). You can find them both at your local walgreens on the bottom shelf by the shampoos usually. You can also get Renpure shampoo and conditioner there! BTW... I would NOT dye your hair! It is so bad for it! Besides, a lot of guys tend to like natural looking colors anyway.
