Mr- GP Chain Low

It is another day that I'm diving into some Christian music to give you an honestunadulteratedview of a track. Mr. GP, Jus Will & Salvation bring us a new track called Chain Low. I've heard of the names before, but that isn't saying much as there seems to be multiples of everyone in Christian Hip Hop. It seems like Christian rappers never take the time to see if someone else is using their name. I haven't heard any of the music before, but that's ok. You know I'm going to go in and be as honest as possible about the music. Let's do this.
First things first, this beat is so stupid. It's bananas. I don't want to sound like a heathen, but my goodness, this is some real strip club type stuff. I miss this in Christian hip hop. It seems that so many of the tracks that are released do not have enough of a beat that it is danceable. And when it comes down to it, most of what made Hip Hop work in the secular is that dancing was married to the beats and the songs. I'm loving how sparse the track is while still moving with a ton of energy. This track is dope. I hope that other rappers take note because this was executed flawlessly. Great beat, great feel, and great energy.
Vocally I do have some issues. But before I get to those, I'm going to be a littlecontroversial(whats new right?). No one expects a song like this to have a ton of lyricism. However, when a song like this has a ton of lyricism, it is something special. I wish I could classify the lyrics as something special in terms of the delivery, punchlines and overall wordplay. But the truth of the matter is that I got what I expected, just mediocre lyricism. But that's ok, it is what the track called for. Other than the lyrics, I have no complaints. The flow game is on point, the attitude/swag is just what I expected, the personality and presence are top notch. I have no complaints other than I really wish there was a little more lyricism. I know I'm nitpicking, but that's what I do best.
The mix is right on the money. Very balanced in every sense of the word. There was a place for everything and everything was in it's place. The vocals sat nicely in the beat without protruding too much or without being swallowed up whole by the beat. It's not every day that I hear a balanced mix, so this was a welcomed exception.
The track is a free download, and I would suggest you get it. The only place that it lost any points on the review was for the lyricism and the chorus, which oddly enough I cannot remember just after 10 minutes of hearing the song. If these 2 areas aretightenedup, it's going to be a problem. I'm not sure of the order of the rappers, but of the 3 that were on the track, the last was by far the weakest of the bunch. Just some helpfulcriticism. Keep banging for Jesus.
